What is it about my own ethnicity? Take 2

Seriously! I just don't get it! Sure, you know WHY your society is filled with messed-up people?? These people just don't get it. It's like they're all think they're machines that just need a little oil now and then. But I never thought we would sink to levels that low. What does it take for them to understand that they're trying to heal the symptoms, not solve the problems? I don't think they ever will. Bleh. Cousins shouldn't be sending you this kind of stuff at 1:30 am.... Especially when it's 4:30 am where they are. :p

  1. Don't they watch "Oprah"? There are some sick perverts out there who can take these kids and make them their slaves. So sad.

  2. ? Do people watch Oprah in the Philippines? :p If so, wow. @@ Why is Oprah considered so much the be-all and end-all of advice?

Wait, don't answer that, a female friend already explained it to me quite well, and it made a lot of sense. :)

  3. Yes. I would worry about the safety and emotional health of these kids as well. I don't think most of these parents are aware of the risks involved in sending their children abroad and completely rescinding legal custody of their children to complete strangers who may or may not be good, law-abiding and decent members of society...

But, I don't think Koreans are alone in sending their children abroad for the sole purpose of obtaining quality levels of education...I know for sure that affluent HK/Taiwanese parents have been sending their kids to the U.S/Canada for school for quite some time now. However, instead of entrusting their kids to the care of total strangers, they either have them board with relatives or they buy them a house/apartment and visit them occasionally. I'm sure you've heard of the "astronaut parents" of the 90s. Anyway, a lot of times, it really defeats the purpose because many (though not all) of these kids ended up cutting classes and not doing well in school because they don't have their parents watching over them all the time.
