The Birds, The Birds!

As I stepped out of work today to go home, I noticed a very strange sound. I wasn't at my usual office, as I had to visit some other folks at another building. And what I heard were crows. Lots and lots of crows. I looked up and was absolutely shocked to see hundreds of crows flying in the air, with more crows perched on every spare inch of the rooftop edges (there were two large buildings facing each other, you see, and I was right in between them), and yet more perched on every spare branch of large nearby trees (you don't get leaves on deciduous trees in the winter). Still more crows were flying in from the south and circling overhead the parking lot where I was standing. It was a very eerie sight, reminiscent of Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds (and I hadn't even watched the movie, really). It was as if they were mustering their troops to mount a massive assault on the city. It was awesome, intriguing, powerful, and intimidating all at the same time. I don't know if I've ever seen or heard anything like it.

So... how was your day?
